Summary:
We are currently looking for an EHS Specialist to join our team at CECO! EHS Specialist will be responsible for tactical execution of company policies and procedures. This position has responsibility in North America to ensure all safety program initiatives and investigations completed and actions implemented in a timely manner across CECO platforms and businesses by following the company policies and full use of tools, implementation, reporting and standards. This position will report to Senior Director EHS.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- This position is responsible for implementation of EHS systems, procedures and processes to ensure everyone goes home safely and the environment is protected.
- This position ensures goals, objectives, actions produce the desired results consistent with the needs of the organization, based on global strategy and planning and supports the attainment of Company and Department key performance indicators and targets.
- This position ensures that all projects and sites having EHS programs are managed through the full life cycle, sell and execution. This includes understanding and following customer requirements, ensuring implementation at site/plant and execution in field operations where applicable.
- Implements and maintains site EHS procedures and interfaces with supervisors and site leaders/plant managers regarding regulatory compliance as it relates to EHS.
- Provides training for mandatory OSHA compliance, site committee and emergency response teams, new hire safety orientation and other site-specific hazard awareness training.
- Maintains site risk assessments and hazard identification programs. Implements programs and controls designed to improve workplace EHS to mitigate risk.
- Maintains, enforces and ensures compliance with state and federal environmental/safety/health regulations for a safe work environment.
- Reports to Senior Director EHS, liaises with site management, project/field managers and employees in both union and non-union locations.
- Investigates incidents providing root cause analysis and workers compensation coordination.
- Coordinates environmental, safety and security data on the EHS website including maintaining OSHA 300 logs and injury/illness metrics across multiple locations.
- Conducts field EHS inspections and supports operations to close actions. Manages non-conformances, works directly with site personnel to implement solutions.
- Drives leading indicator initiatives such as Near Miss reporting, behavior based safety and employee engagement activities.
- Maintains emergency response, business continuity and contingency programs for all fire, spill and other emergency response processes.
- Implements program and processes based on Field EHS Manual, updates changes and processes as needed.
- Performs supplier management. Conducts supplier audits and maintains qualification in portals such as ISNetword ensuring field support and customer requirements are met and cascaded.
- Proactively engages the sites to identify opportunities for improvement, hazard analysis and changes needed for continuous improvement.
- Manages KPI data and provides input to improve performance for continuous improvement.
- Works in matrix organization and partners with key functions such as human resources, supply chain management and business units to identify risk, ensure implementation and mitigate risk.
- Assists in approval and execution of EHS to improve delivery across platforms.
- Proactively identifies continuous improvement opportunities to advance the EHS&S program in areas of design, risk and preventive actions.
- Provides management with information and feedback from the market/suppliers, platforms to ensure continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Associates Degree in EHS.
- 8+ years of experience implementing EHS experience.
- Broad knowledge of OSHA.
- Industrial equipment manufacturing experience required such as: pumps, motors, valves, raw materials, actuators, welding, machining, painting, fabrication, resin, and fiberglass reinforced plastic.
- Experience with ISO requirements and quality standards.
- Experience or training in safety and security risk assessment and analysis.
- Analytical skills and ability to gather and interpret complex sets of data.
- ISNetworld, Avetta and supplier portal proficiency
- Basic project management experience.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and use hand and lift and/pr move 10 lbs. and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences
- ASP, CSP, CIH certificates a plus
- Green Belt Lean Six Sigma certification a plus
