This position is responsible for the civil and structural engineering responsibilities required to execute projects in the Emissions Platform.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

  • Performs structural design and analysis calculations using customer specifications, governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
  • Lays out and details civil/structural portions of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer. May be assigned responsibility for generating schematic or conceptual layouts when qualified.
  • Provides drawings of own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
  • Research design options and documents findings for project lead engineers.
  • Reviews shop fabrication drawings.
  • Develop probable construction cost estimates to be utilized by the sales team.
  • May direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, as needed.
  • Recommend changes for standards or process improvements as needed.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
  • Attend and participates in Client meetings.
  • Coordinates with internal and external partners including other engineering disciplines, construction partners, third-party subcontractors, and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns.
  • Performs field activities as required to execute work, such as taking field measurements.
  • Organizes, drafts, and coordinates engineering documents.
  • Assumes the lead engineer’s role on assigned projects.
  • May serve as Project Engineer and as a designated Client contact on smaller, less complex projects.
  • Supports sales team as required to secure future work
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering.
  • At least six (6) years’ experience in structural engineering and design.
  • Experience in the power industry or industrial markets is preferred.
  • Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations.
  • Knowledge in engineering software STAAD Pro, ANSYS, and Mathcad is preferred.
  • Knowledge in shallow, mat and deep foundation design is preferred.
  • Knowledge in structural steel design with AISC, AWS, CBC, and Canadian Steel Codes is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Licensing or Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer is strongly preferred

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.

 

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
