The Production Manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to all levels of the manufacturing operations and producing products and directing activities so that products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. Specific focus will be given to strategic planning, company-wide initiatives, goal setting and alignment through ongoing continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, productivity, profitability, occupational health & safety, and efficiency. Additional emphasis will be placed on high-mix, low-volume engineered-to-order/manufactured-to-order capital equipment manufacturing, aftermarket/parts fulfillment, tribal knowledge retention, and applied lean practices.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:
• Ensures all products are manufactured according to specifications in the most efficient manner in compliance with all safety and quality standards, with emphasis on Engineered-To-Order/Manufactured-To-Order capital equipment and simultaneous aftermarket manufacturing.
• Establishes and administers KPIs—including throughput, rework rates, and lean metrics—to ensure customer and company business needs are consistently achieved and provides timely information to management to drive effective business decisions.
• Ensures Health and Safety standards are maintained throughout production and follows a comprehensive process for the investigation and corrective action of incidents and near misses.
• Leads, manages, and holds accountable the production team for manufacturing standards, quality, and health and safety policies, while developing supervisory and technical talent through structured personnel development and mentoring.
• Deploys strategic manufacturing plans and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards, including lean manufacturing implementation, design-for-manufacturability feedback loops, and control panel assembly best practices.
• Ensures proactive engagement and representation of manufacturing during product development cycles, including WPS development, welder qualification/certification, and procedure documentation for stainless, carbon, and alloy steel fabrications.
• Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
• Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet forecasted workload, leveraging tribal knowledge documentation to reduce onboarding curve and error rates.
• Works in close collaboration and partnership with Finance, Quality, Sales, and Project Management departments to optimize overall operational excellence and product margin realization.
• Provides solutions to root cause analysis investigations identified by quality, including nonconformance’s that are the direct result of manufacturing operations, emphasizing standard work and corrective/preventive action plans.
• Directs the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of production standards for Engineered-To-Order projects including combustion systems, integrated system testing, and serialized component inspection.
• Develops direct staff performance goals and objectives aligned with organizational goals, including accountability for quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
• Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., employee training, lean projects, recognition programs, continuous improvement, and employee safety programs).
• Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
• Leads continuous improvement initiatives across the floor and office, including waste reduction, flow optimization, and documentation of critical processes using ERP and Microsoft Office tools.
• Other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in industrial, mechanical, or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline, preferably Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering. Or 7-10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing leadership, including supervision and front-line team management.
• Five (5) years of manufacturing leadership in Engineered-To-Order/Manufactured-To-Order environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications with strong MS Excel skills.
• ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
• Fabrication/Welding experience.
• Demonstrated success in implementing lean principles, tribal knowledge retention, and design-to-cost practices in capital equipment manufacturing environments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization and across cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational leadership.
• Strong business acumen and leadership skills; ability to motivate others, resolve conflict, encourage teamwork, and manage employee performance.
Travel Requirement:
• Very little travel required. Less than 5% required.
ADA Requirements:
This job operates in a production plant. This role is subject to dust, variant temperatures, loud noises at times, and welding operations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
• Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
• This role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend climb, with some work on a physical computer and/or networking systems may be required to fulfill operational requirements. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
