The Welder / Fabricator position will Apply safe work practices and policies in the performance of all assigned works. Welding and grinding of metal material into a functional assembly using common raw material including but not limited to structural shapes, plate, sheet metal and pipe.  Typical metals are carbon steel, stainless steel and other commonly used alloy steels.

 

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

  • Work with associates to fabricate air and water pollution control systems under the direction of the Production Manager with a focus on safety, accuracy, compliance and schedule.
  • Typical tasks include:
  • Prep and fit metal components (primarily carbon steel and stainless steel).
  • Weld components into assemblies by supplied manufacturing drawings and bill of materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Modifies and/or makes minor assemblies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Capable of reading and comprehending fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10+ years of welding experience.
  • Ability to speak clearly and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group / team environment.
  • Demonstrate welding proficiency for TIG and MIG process on carbon steel and stainless steel as well as other exotic materials (Qualified candidates will need to perform weld coupons as part of interview process.)
  • Ability to Certify in AWS and ASME.
  • Experience and understanding of welding codes included AWS D1.1, D1.6 and ASME B31.3 and how to apply to WPS and PQR documents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain records related to shop functions (examples: equipment inspections, safety records, facility inspections, MSDS, maintenance records)
  • Understanding of 5S principles and motivated to develop as well as encourage 5S within the workplace.
  • Willing to teach and develop associates skills
  • Working knowledge of typical metal shop tools and machinery including but not limited to: grinder, drill, band saw, lathe, shear, press brake, etc.
  • Capable of lifting equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Forklift operation experience.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Reliable transportation to and from work.

Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.

Compliance with company attendance standards.  

 

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
