The Senior Applications Engineering is responsible for partnering with the sales team on the technical review of the customer’s product application with the objective of improving our competitive advantage. This role plans, designs/redesigns, develops, installs, and implements various products; this defines our most competitive interaction. As a subject matter expert, the Senior Applications Engineering promotes the sale of the Division’s products which requires an abundance of engineering knowledge and expertise to make judgments and provide consultation regarding applications, installations, and economic considerations. This position responds to and addresses all customer and distributor inquiries requiring technical assistance. The Senior Applications Engineering plays an integral role in helping the sales team close sales.The Senior Applications Engineering serves as a mentor to the team.

 

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

 

  • Reviews and evaluates incoming application opportunities and assign to responsible applications engineer.
  • Provides technical support and solutions to the sales team and customers from pre-sale strategy
  • through client implementation and installation.
  • Maintains extensive knowledge of complex aspects of products and systems.
  • Maintains and / or upgrades engineering sizing tools and proposal templates as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conducts weekly Sales and Applications meetings to identify and prioritize departmental needs and schedules.
  • Collaborate with project execution team to ensure accurate budgeting and design quality standard
  • Mentors and shares subject matter expertise with fellow team members
  • Analyzes customer requirements and illustrates how company solutions will add value to their organization.
  • Works in partnership with supply chain and sales team to confirm costs, strategize sales approaches, and ensure attainment of sales quotas.
  • Prepares proposals and technical responses to RFI and RFPs.
  • Understands specific client systems and equipment requirements in order to identify additional sales opportunities forthe sales team.
  • Recommend modifications to standard products to meet individual customer requirements, within practical company and economic limitations.
  • Provides written/verbal quotations and performs necessary follow-up in accordance with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and company price lists, electronic quote tool, and contractual discount schedules.
  • Performs costing analysis, as needed, on product line items versus published pricing to arrive at gross margin calculation for review and approval by Sales and Management.
  • Coordinates customer delivery requirements with the Production Department and configure technical solutions for customers to ensure successful customer integration.
  • Anticipates and answers client/sales questions on product functionality/usage, application inquiries, and appropriate product recommendation in a timely manner.
  • Provides feedback on development, marketing literature, website development, and other system tools to boost productivity and as needed to increase sales of the Division’s products.
  • Provides consultation or demonstrations remotely from office, possibly onsite at trade shows, or by visiting a client site for sales or service-related activities.
    Supports implementation of improved work processes to maximize efficiency and for continued improvement of the sales team.

Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 6-8 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Basic AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Salesforce, or Solid Works drafting skills are a plus.
  • Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.
  • Prior experience in the Engineering design, and/or commercial industrial manufacturing industry is helpful.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel Required up to 30%

 

Licensing or Certifications: PMI certification is a plus.

Work Environment This position is based in a remote, home-office setting. The role requires a dedicated workspace with reliable internet access and a quiet environment conducive to focused work. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to manage boundaries between work and personal life effectively. Minimal physical requirements, primarily computer use, and communication via virtual platforms, are necessary. Flexibility to adapt to occasional scheduled video meetings and collaborative tasks is essential.

 

Physical Demands

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
