The Design Drafter III is responsible for developing conceptual designs, reviewing drawings, and
providing support to the engineering team. This role will be designing project-specific items to be manufactured by our Company and other companies. The Design Drafter III will facilitate internal workflow, as required. This position collaborates in person and remotely with Project Management and Engineering professionals to develop design concepts and engineering documents.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

 

  • Research and reviews project requirements and design information to determine if it sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.
  • Assists with the preparation of standard engineering documents, using Autodesk Inventor
    and AutoCAD for drafting and 3D design purposes.
  • Coordinates with other Project Managers and Engineers to establish essential functions and
    deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.
  • Determines appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by
    updating an existing CAD file.
  • Analyzes reports, P&IDs, drawings, tests, existing and proposed characteristics, and other design data to plan and design projects.
  • Completes the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; make necessary corrections to existing drawings following quality review process.
  • Reviews drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting
  • Assists project managers with preparation of work scopes and estimates for projects.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • An associate degree in Computer Aided Design, Drafting or CAD Technology with 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience in industrial process piping and packaged skid design sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Working knowledge & experience with ANSI Codes, Butt and Socket Welds and Threaded Piping is required.
  • Working knowledge of P&ID development and evaluation is required.
  • Able to calculate lengths, distances, angles, areas, volumes; required
  • 3D modeling experience; required

Travel Requirements: Estimated to be no more than 10-20% to support business needs

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.

 

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

 

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
