The ERP Solution Architect is responsible for the overall quality, integrity, and timely delivery of CECO's ERP solutions across the enterprise. The role reports to the Director, IT ERP and provides solution leadership across CECO's ERP project portfolio, with primary focus on ensuring that projects are delivered using scalable, supportable, and well-integrated ERP designs.
The ERP Solution Architect supports a team of ERP Functional Leads, including both senior and junior resources, by providing design guidance, architecture oversight, and solution review throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will combine deep ERP implementation experience, strong D365 F&O knowledge, broad business process understanding, and practical delivery judgment. The role requires someone who can see the end-to-end solution, identify risks early, challenge poor design decisions, guide project teams through complex issues, and hold implementation partners accountable for delivering high-quality solutions aligned with CECO standards.
A key part of the role will be to continue building and refining CECO's D365 template, ensuring that process designs, configuration decisions, controls, integrations, data standards, testing assets, and deployment practices are reusable across projects, sites, and future rollouts.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Solution Architecture & Design Governance
- Own the overall quality and integrity of ERP solution designs across assigned projects and initiatives.
- Provide architecture guidance to ERP Functional Leads, technical teams, business stakeholders, and implementation partners.
- Review and validate proposed solutions to ensure they are scalable, supportable, integrated, and aligned with CECO standards.
- Establish and maintain practical design principles, solution standards, and governance expectations for ERP projects.
- Evaluate solution options and recommend approaches that balance business value, operational fit, complexity, risk, cost, and long-term maintainability.
- Ensure project-level design decisions support CECO's broader ERP direction and do not create unnecessary technical debt or downstream process issues.
D365 Template Development & Refinement
- Lead the ongoing development and refinement of CECO's D365 template, including standard processes, configuration principles, integration patterns, controls, reporting expectations, and reusable project deliverables.
- Ensure lessons learned from implementations, enhancements, acquisitions, and support activities are captured and incorporated into the template where appropriate.
- Partner with Functional Leads to confirm that project solutions align with the CECO template and that deviations are reviewed, justified, documented, and approved.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and strengthen the template so future projects can be delivered more consistently and efficiently.
- Maintain alignment between the ERP template, business process design, data standards, testing approach, deployment practices, and long-term support model.
- Help define what should be treated as core template, local variation, approved exception, or future roadmap item.
Functional Lead Support & Delivery Oversight
- Support project teams by providing guidance on solution design, requirements interpretation, integration impacts, and cross-functional decisions.
- Help project teams prepare for and navigate complex business discussions and design decisions.
- Review functional deliverables including process designs, functional specifications, requirements documentation, solution options, test scope, and deployment readiness materials.
- Identify gaps in project delivery, solution quality, business readiness, or partner performance and drive timely resolution.
- Provide coaching and practical guidance to improve consistency and quality across the team.
- Ensure project teams maintain clear traceability from business requirements through design, testing, deployment, and support.
Program Solution Quality & Timely Delivery
- Monitor solution quality across ERP projects and ensure key design decisions are made at the right level and at the right time.
- Identify cross-project dependencies, design conflicts, risks, and sequencing issues that could impact delivery quality or timelines.
- Drive resolution of complex design issues that span multiple functions, sites, projects, or business processes.
- Support project leadership by providing clear assessments of solution readiness, risks, and open decisions.
- Contribute to go/no-go recommendations for deployments, releases, and major solution milestones.
- Ensure ERP solutions are delivered in a manner that supports stable operations, long-term supportability, and future scalability.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand operational needs, process impacts, and business priorities.
- Facilitate and support complex solution discussions where requirements, standard processes, system capabilities, and business expectations must be aligned.
- Challenge assumptions and customization requests when they create unnecessary complexity or move CECO away from standard, supportable ERP processes.
- Clearly communicate solution impacts, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Promote business process standardization and simplification across CECO operating companies where appropriate.
Technology, Integration & Roadmap Support
- Provide input into ERP roadmap planning, platform optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate ERP capabilities, ISV solutions, integrations, and related technologies that may provide business value.
- Partner with technical teams to ensure integrations, data flows, reporting, security, and controls are considered in solution designs.
- Support acquisition integrations, rollout planning, and harmonization of ERP processes across CECO businesses.
- Promote reuse, simplification, standardization, and sustainable architecture decisions across the ERP landscape.
