This internship offers hands-on exposure to the environmental technology sector with opportunities across CECO’s engineered systems. Interns will work with multidisciplinary engineering, product, and operations teams on projects involving separation technologies, RO systems, filtration products, wastewater treatment, pump systems, and oil & gas separation solutions.

 

The ideal candidate is passionate about water sustainability, industrial environmental solutions, and advanced engineered technologies.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Assist engineers with design, development, testing, and documentation of products and systems.
  • Support manufacturing and operations teams in identifying process improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
  • Create and update engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD software and other engineering tools.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret engineering and production data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in product testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for quality and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects through data collection, process mapping, and documentation.
  • Conduct research on materials, components, and engineering best practices.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for engineering leadership.
  • Observe and comply with all safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve products, processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and tracking of engineering deliverables.
  • Perform other engineering-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Coursework or exposure to fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, or process engineering preferred.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with MS Office; experience with CAD or modeling software is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and curious about industrial environmental technologies.

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.  

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods. 
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.  Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues. 
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.  

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
