The Senior ERP Functional Lead is responsible for leading the delivery of Business Application projects, primally, D365 F&O implementations, enhancements, and business process improvement initiatives within CECO's broader transformation efforts. This role is focused on not just implementing Technology but transforming and optimizing how we operate.

 

The role works closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external implementation partners to ensure business requirements are translated into practical, scalable solutions that align with CECO standards and support operational objectives.

The successful candidate will combine strong ERP functional expertise with business process knowledge and stakeholder management skills. They will provide client side leadership of ERP projects throughout the delivery cycle, working with both other members of the CECO Business Applications team and third party partners.

 

The Senior ERP Functional Lead is expected to provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization. The role requires an individual who can build credibility with stakeholders, effectively challenge assumptions, and drive projects to successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will combine deep D365 skills with industry knowledge of manufacturing or project-based companies.

 

 

 

Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

 

Functional Project Leadership

  • Lead the functional delivery of assigned ERP projects, enhancements, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the primary functional lead between business stakeholders, implementation partners, and IT teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and solution design sessions to define business requirements and translate them into practical ERP solutions.
  • Guide stakeholders through complex business and process decisions.
  • Support business process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations.
  • Hold business partners accountable for active participation and deliverables during the implementation cycle.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and design issues and drive timely resolution.
  • Provide functional leadership throughout requirements, design, testing, deployment, and stabilization activities.
  • Ensure implementation partners remain aligned with project objectives, approved designs, and CECO standards.

Business Engagement & Requirements Management

  • Work closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand business challenges, objectives, and operational requirements.
  • Gather, document, analyze, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Lead requirements workshops, process reviews, and solution validation sessions. Draft and review requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process flows, functional designs, requirements documentation, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead documentation of current state and future state business processes.
  • Ensure business requirements are clearly understood, approved, and traceable through design, testing, and deployment.

Solution Design & ERP Delivery

  • Lead functional solution design activities and collaborate with technical teams on solution delivery.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions to ensure alignment with business objectives, ERP best practices, and CECO standards.
  • Review and validate designs developed by internal teams and implementation partners.
  • Promote standard ERP functionality where appropriate while balancing business requirements and long-term maintainability.
  • Support decision-making around solution alternatives, risks, and trade-offs.

Partner & Vendor Management

  • Work closely with external implementation partners and consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Hold partners accountable for agreed deliverables, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Review recommendations and challenge assumptions where necessary.
  • Escalate risks, issues, and quality concerns when appropriate.
  • Ensure external resources understand and follow CECO standards, templates, governance processes, and delivery expectations.
  • Works with the Solution Architect to review the market for potential solutions and providers

Testing, Deployment & Business Readiness

  • Develop and coordinate functional testing activities.
  • Support creation of test cases, execution of testing, defect management, and solution validation.
  • Ensure solutions meet approved business requirements before deployment.
  • Support deployment planning, cutover preparation, and hypercare activities.
  • Assist business users in preparing for process changes and system adoption.
  • Ensure documentation, training materials, and business procedures are updated as required.

 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).
  • 7+ years of ERP implementation, enhancement, and support experience.
  • Experience leading functional workstreams or solution delivery activities within ERP projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, inventory, operations, and financial business processes.
  • Ability to understand complex business challenges and identify effective system and process solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing business requirements, functional designs, test scripts, user stories, process documentation, and acceptance criteria.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability craft strong narratives in various formats including PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives through completion.
  • Strong skills in Excel, Viso and related technologies

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience within industrial manufacturing, engineered-to-order, make-to-stock, or project manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with warehouse management, production control, planning, costing, and shop floor processes.
  • Experience with ERP integrations, ISV solutions, and data migration activities.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working in global and multi-site environments.
  • Experience working in a consulting organization, either in ERP delivery or Business transformation

 

Licensing  or Certifications:

One or more of the following certifications are preferred:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Manufacturing certifications

 

 

 

Travel Requirements

Travel needs will vary by project but will typically be less than one week per month. Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Work Environment: This position is based at the headquarters located in Dallas, TX. Minimal physical requirements, primarily computer use, and communication via virtual platforms, are necessary. Flexibility to adapt to occasional scheduled video meetings and collaborative tasks is essential.
